Vampire Diaries

So, I watched the first two seasons of Vampire Diaries once they were put up on Netflix. I loved the first season, and most of the second, but once the third was posted I found I wasn't interested in it. I was wondering why I wasn't, and realized it was the killing and blood-sucking that turned me off to the show. I was at work the other day and a girl I work with said she LOVES the show and watches it almost religiously. My other friend from my ward is the same way. I was kind of surprised, and couldn't really figure out why they like it so much. I guess its the whole vampire/hot guy thing...but because of its ickyness I no longer like it. I guess it just surprises me what keeps us watching shows. For them its the hot guys and love story, but for me that didn't outweigh the violence and blood.

  1. I'm with you! It's hard for me to get interested in something that is so morbid. Pretty Little Liars is kinda the same, intense murder mystery, and I just can't get past the violence and into the drama!

  2. It seems like there's a lot of violence in TV shows. It definitely makes it harder to get interested in the characters and the actual plot (if there is one).

  3. The whole trend with vampires has kind of surprised me. When you think about it, anything to do with vampires is going to be bloody and gory to some extent. Sure there are exceptions, but you don't start watching a vampire show or read a vampire book thinking there won't be any violence. Because this new genre of media is so popular, its interesting to think whether people really do like a crave the violence. I started reading Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer because my friend really wanted me to. I got about 30 pages in and decided I don't care for the violence. People seem to really be drawn to idea of vampires and the violence that comes with them.
